Food for Birds in Feeders

What to put in the feeders?

  • Walnuts, hazelnuts (unsalted, in-shell)

  • Corn

  • Millet

  • Oats

  • Peanut butter (without salt and sugar)

  • Apples, pears (sliced)

  • Berries

  • Winter bird mixes/balls (fat and seeds)

  • Insects (dried, like mealworms)

What NOT to put

  • Bread (especially fresh or moldy)

  • Salted nuts

  • Foods high in sugar (cakes, cookies)

  • Milk and dairy products

  • Processed meat

  • Leftover cooked food

  • Chocolate

  • Foods with additives or preservatives

  • Salty snacks

  • Dried fruits with added sugar
