Report on Cleaning and Refilling the Wildlife Watering Stations at Galijot in Plava laguna

On Thursday, October 17, 2024, members of the Poreč Public Fire Brigade once again lent their support by cleaning the wildlife watering stations in the Galijot area of Plava laguna. Firefighters Andrea Popović and Mateo Vitez thoroughly cleaned the watering stations and then refilled them with fresh water.

This effort stems from an initiative by Mayor Loris Peršurić, who proposed that, during the off-season, the maintenance of watering stations in Galijot and Bellevue be overseen by employees of the municipal company Usluga Poreč, as they are both technically and professionally equipped for the task.

During the tourist season, volunteers and horticulture staff from Plava laguna look after the watering stations. The involvement of Usluga employees will complement these efforts by ensuring reliable access to drinking water, thus reducing wildlife dependence on unreliable water sources during autumn and winter.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the municipal company and the Town for taking on this vital role, which will significantly contribute to the sustainability and high quality of the ecosystem within our urban environment.
