Report on the Handover of Animal Shelters, Feeders, and Water Stations for Wildlife in the Town of Poreč

On Saturday, October 12th, 2024, the mayor of Poreč, Loris Peršurić, personally delivered and handed over hedgehog houses, insect hotels, bird feeders, and water stations for wildlife as part of the "Lend a Hand to Nature" project, aimed at the conservation and protection of local fauna. The handover took place in the presence of the project leaders, Conny Peto Đeneš and Dražen Požarić, who took responsibility for further activities related to the installation of the equipment.

In the coming days, the shelters and feeders will be assembled and installed in three key locations within the town: the small woodland between the Hospital and the Social Welfare Center, "Bakina šumica," and the Naftaplin area. These locations have been carefully selected due to their accessibility and the presence of flora suitable for wildlife.

The mayor participated in the installation of the first squirrel feeder and water station at Naftaplin, symbolically marking the continuation of ecological activities that initially focused on squirrels but are now expanding to other wildlife, including birds, hedgehogs, and insects. This broader approach allows for wider ecosystem protection and improved care for various animal species found in the urban areas of Poreč.

Special thanks also go to Silvi Servatzy from the SOS Šape Animal Protection Association for her support.

The "Lend a Hand to Nature" project represents an ongoing effort to promote coexistence between humans and wildlife and to preserve the environment in Poreč, offering sustainable solutions to support wildlife in the town.
