We are delighted to inform you that over the past month and a half, we have installed the first fifteen squirrel houses, procured as part of the "Lend a Hand to Nature" project. By providing these houses along with feeders and water stations, we are creating a safer and more comfortable home for squirrels and contributing to the preservation of their natural habitat.
We have filled the houses with nesting materials (sisal, jute, cotton, and coconut fibers, as well as cotton rags), and each one received a handful of welcome hazelnuts to offer our forest friends a cozy and inviting home.
We are excited to have taken this important step and eagerly anticipate the continuation of installing houses, feeders, and water stations at other locations. We will keep you informed about further progress and new installations once everything is ready.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the town of Poreč and Mayor Loris Peršurić for their great support, as well as to Valamar Riviera d.d., without whom this project would not have been possible. We would also like to give special recognition to our fellow citizen Alan Račić, whose skill and bravery in climbing tall pine trees enabled the safe placement of the houses at suitable heights.
This project is not only a step towards nature conservation but also a symbol of community and care for the environment that surrounds us. Thank you to everyone who is part of this story and who contributes to a brighter and healthier future for squirrels and our entire ecosystem.
The houses, feeders, and water stations are installed in a way that does not damage the trees and with the approval of Croatian Forests.
